What Is Not Covered Under Family Health Insurance Plans?

by admin on August 12, 2010

Health insurance plans, irrespective of whether they are for individuals or families, come with a lot of terms and conditions associated with them. Most of the time, people are unaware of the exclusions under the family insurance plans and realize them only when it is too late. It is important to understand the exclusions of the family or individual health insurance plans before you sign up for them.

These plans do not provide coverage when you opt for cosmetic surgery. Irrespective of whether it is a reconstructive surgery or any other procedure, none of the costs will be covered under the plan. It is important to speak with your provider before hand and get this confirmed to avoid unpleasant shocks in the future.

Health insurance plans of any type will not cover dental problems or problems related to hearing and vision. You will have to pay from your pocket to avail treatment for these problems. Treatment for learning disabilities and behavioral problems will also not come under the scope of coverage.

If you want to opt for private nursing facilities or home care facilities, you will have to shell out money since the insurance provider will not cover you for those expenses.
